August 2004 MEETING WEBSITE - The meeting was a great success. This website will remain online for a limited period for informational purposes only. 1st May 2004 REGISTRATION FEES - Late registration fees now apply for anyone who has not registered - the late fee is an additional 10% over the normal registration fee. Registration forms or online registration are available here. 22rd April 2004 PROVISIONAL AGENDA AVAILABLE - A provisional version of the agenda is now available to download from the Working Program page. The final contents of the agenda, and the timing and order of presentations, are still subject to change. 10th March 2004 SUBMISSION DEADLINE EXTENDED - By request, we are extending the deadline for submissions until 1 April 2004. However, early submissions will still receive priority in the Working Program. Slots for spoken presentations are nearly full, but there is still plenty of space for poster presentations. Accommodation is also filling up rapidly, so please ensure that you have registered and sorted out your accommodation details as soon as possible. 10th February 2004 ACCOMMODATION GOING FAST! - We remind participants that they should book their accommodation ASAP, due to a clash with the V8 Supercar racing event on the weekend of 22-23 May 2004. The Palms Motel is now fully booked, and the MGM Grand (venue) is fully booked for 23 and 24 May (remainder still available). Rooms are still available on a rapidly-diminishing basis at the following: ALATAI Holiday Apartments, Quality Hotel Frontier, Metro Inn Darwin, Mirambeena Resort, Chilli's Backpackers. See the accommodation page for more details. 2nd February 2004 SHARING ACCOMMODATION - Should any CSG participant wish to save costs by sharing accommodation during the Working Meeting, please contact Tom.Dacey@epa.qld.gov.au, who will put you in contact with others also willing to share. 22nd January 2004 PROGRAM AMENDMENTS - The session titles within the draft program have been amended. Please check the revised program when seeking guidance on topics for spoken and poster presentations. The organising committee will consider any paper on crocodilians, but if necessary preference will be given to those papers that most closely follow the program. 14th January 2004 CALL FOR PAPERS - All interested participants are now invited to submit papers for inclusion in the 17th Working Meeting program. Both spoken presentations and posters are welcome. Instructions to authors are available for both spoken presentations and posters. Authors should refer to the session titles in the current program overview for guidelines on general topics for papers. 14th January 2004 POST-CONFERENCE TOURS - Several tour companies are offering CSG conference registrants the chance to see the famous Kakadu National Park after the conference, at specially discounted rates. See the field trip section for more details. 14th January 2004 MAPS - Maps of Darwin are now available in the accommodation section. 16th October 2003 MEETING DATES CHANGED BY ONE DAY - The dates for a major race car event in Darwin clash with the previous CSG meeting dates. This would have considerable impact on the availability of airline flights and accommodation around 22-23 May 2004, so it has become necessary for the dates of the CSG meeting to be re-scheduled by one day. The 17th CSG Working Meeting will now be held on 24-29 May 2004, with the following program: These changes will allow participants to arrive in Darwin on either 23rd or 24th May 2004, and still enjoy the benefit of the discounted accommodation rates at the MGM Grand. In addition, options for cheaper alternative accommodation are now available, some within a short 5-10 minutes walking distance of the venue. Others are accessible by a cheap shuttle bus service between venues and accommodation houses. Details can be found here. The registration process is now secure. When you click on the registration page you will be taken to a secure server kindly set up by CSG member Akira Matsuda. All data sent to us are encoded using 128-bit encryption. You can still choose whether to pay when you register or at a later date. 7th July 2003 More information on accommodation, both the official meeting hotel and details on how to get information on other places to stay, can be found under the detailed meeting info. 9th June 2003 The website of the 17th Working Meeting of the IUCN-SSC Crocodile Specialist Group has been launched. Further announcements will be made here. |
